About

I love metal.

I make metal sculptures.
I've made jewelry,
restored Model A cars,
taught metal working,
make my own hammers,
and love using salvaged materials.

The Statue of Liberty was made with sandbags and wooden mallets.

I make my metal sculptures out of 18-gauge low carbon steel. The forming techniques are like fabricating doors, hoods, or roof panels. I could be making custom car bodies in my workshop, but I prefer to make Art.

I like to include a mystery element in my work. Life is mysterious. Consciousness itself, death, love and dreams are good reminders how simply unknowable life is. I include an element of mystery to serve as a reminder of life’s greater mysteries.

I work on my pieces and do not have fixed goals but if I am close to completion I try to finish that step in that work session. Some steps are easy and go quickly. Some steps are difficult, yielding such bad results I must do it over with an alternative technique. I do know when the work matches the result I want to achieve, which is where perseverance comes in useful.
